About Us

David Rasko is a teacher and a performer.  His dedication to the Spanish guitar has seen his skill, knowledge and student base grow over the past 20 years.

After studying the 'Cello, from a young age, and playing with the Sydney Youth Orchestra, he became interested in the guitar, in particular, the Blues. However, on hearing the Spanish Guitar, he found a style to which he could dedicate his life.

Subsequently, he trained as an Instrumental Teacher at the New South Wales State Conservatorium of Music.

It is David’s aim through the centre to continue to teach the Spanish guitar, to raise the profile of the guitar and to raise the standard of playing within the institution.

Moreover, through his many public performances, David seeks to create opportunity for other people to experience a musical style they would not necessarily encounter in their everyday life. 

David sees this style as exotic and special.  It has the ability to transport the audience, just as he was transported, to a space of emotion and understanding. 

By exposing more people to this aspect of expression, David says, we can hope to promote the understanding that the deepest of emotions are common to all cultures.  Moreover, such exposure can help to enrich the creative aspects of many people’s lives.

David is a member of the Classical Guitar Society of Sydney and performs on a regular basis.
